They play a crucial role in ensuring patient safety and managing pain during surgical procedures and in intensive care settings. Responsibilities : Anesthesia Administration : Assessing patients' medical history and conducting preoperative evaluations to determine the appropriate anesthesia plan. Administering anesthesia, whether general, regional, or local, to ensure patients are comfortable and unconscious during surgery. Monitoring vital signs and adjusting anesthesia levels as necessary throughout the procedure. Ensuring a smooth transition from anesthesia to post - anesthesia recovery. Pain Management : Evaluating patients' pain levels and developing pain management plans to ensure optimal comfort during the recovery period. Utilizing various techniques, medications, and interventions to control pain effectively. Critical Care Management : Providing critical care to patients in intensive care units (ICUs) and high - dependency units (HDUs) with life - threatening conditions. Managing ventilator support, hemodynamic stability, and other essential aspects of critical care. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Emergency Situations : Being on - call and available to respond to emergency situations that require immediate anesthesia or critical care interventions. Documentation and Communication : Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, including anesthesia plans, administration details, and critical care interventions. Communicating effectively with patients, their families, and the medical team to provide updates on the patient's condition and treatment plan.
