Job Description

Overview: Server Administrator Level 3 (L3) will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting our organization's servers and related components to achieve high availability and performance. This role requires a deep technical understanding of server hardware, operating systems, virtualization technologies, and networking. He/She will collaborate closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless operation of our Customer server infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Server Administration: Deploy, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers across various platforms (Windows Server, Linux, etc.) Virtualization: Manage virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Citrix XenServer. Provision virtual machines (VMs), manage virtual networks, and ensure high availability of virtualized resources. Storage Management: Administer storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and ensure efficient data storage and backup processes. Implement and manage RAID configurations and storage protocols. Networking: Configure and troubleshoot network connectivity of servers (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). Collaborate with network engineers to ensure smooth integration of server systems with the network infrastructure. Backup and Recovery: Design and implement backup and recovery strategies for server systems and critical data. Perform periodic backup testing and ensure data integrity. Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including server configurations, procedures, and incident reports. Generate regular reports on server performance, capacity, and uptime metrics. Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide L3 support for escalated server issues and collaborate with L1/L2 support teams to resolve incidents within defined SLAs. Conduct root cause analysis for recurring problems and implement permanent resolutions. Security Compliance: Ensure servers are compliant with security standards and policies (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR). Implement security patches and upgrades in coordination with the security team. Required Skills and Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). Proven experience as a Server Administrator or similar role with OEM like HPE/ Dell with at least 3 years in L3 support. In-depth knowledge of server hardware (HP, Dell, Cisco UCS, etc.) and server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux distributions). Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, XenServer). Familiarity with storage systems and protocols (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS). Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). Experience in implementing and maintaining backup and recovery solutions. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues. Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Preferred Skills: Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or similar. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
