The MFG/DFM Engineer is responsible for all stages of the customers products technological and production process. The Main Tasks Of The Position Are As Follows Coordinate the development and launch of the product into production. Act as a liaison between the customer and the supplier company. Ensure the transition from design to production through concurrent engineering activities with process engineers. Implement all changes to the production system related to product modifications (at the level of engineering change management). Ensure manufacturability. Report all production risk analyses and associated action plans and capabilities. Lead product definition (completion of CAD) completed and development to ensure compliance to requirements (acceptance of customer product specification including geometry convergence) Perform DFM analysis. Apply the production management system, engineering change management, as well as tools and standards. Ensure that the main production stages are successfully completed on time. A Successful Candidate Higher engineering education - metal processing engineer, design engineer or similar Experience in the role of engineer from 3 years. Preferably in the field of automotive Expert knowledge of various metalworking methods Knowledge of various metal and plastic post-processes: polishing, hardening, heat treatment, anodizing, sanding/blasting, coatings, painting, etc. Knowledge of various structural materials and their machining properties: metals, plastics, composites High conversational and written level of English. Take actions to improve on time delivery, quality, and customer satisfactionTrack and monitor the progress of numerous customer orders and partner jobs. Provide excellent customer and partner service by building relationships, creating partnerships, and by providing frequent and timely customer interactions on order updates Apply first-hand technical knowledge (or leverage other subject matter experts) on manufacturing design and production to ensure jobs are delivered on time. Understand supplier capabilities and execute supplier oversight activities, which include frequent phone assessments, detailed schedule creation, quality reviews, and supplier corrective actions. Assess the impact of manufactured part rejections; communicate with suppliers and customers to work through problems and resolve cases. Manage customer complaints that result in replacements for returned products Report out on status, risk, and efforts to recover troubled orders and jobs. Job Duties Document all case activity in the central database. Leverage company technology platforms and comply with the Quality Management System Monitor the integrity of supplier quality metrics. Interface with Engineering, Customer Care, Quality, Sales, and Shipping teams to ensure manufacturing processes are capable of customer on-time delivery and satisfaction. Effectively communicate with all key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and leadership. Participate and provide input on initiatives to simplify and automate complex processes. Perform all work in compliance with Xometrys quality and safety systems, policies, and procedures. Qualifications Prior project management, supply chain, and customer service experience are required. A minimum of 3 years of related experience, preferably in manufacturing or operations A Bachelor of Science Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or a technical related field is preferred. Working knowledge of and/or education, skills, and experience associated with manufacturing processes, engineering drawing requirements, and mechanical and electrical inspection methods. Capable of performing root cause analysis and identifying solutions to complex problems. A self-starter who can work independently and can drive actions to completion. Analyze engineering models/drawings to define the sequence of fabrication operations to ensure that the design intent and component quality can be achieved. Make proper estimations, taking into consideration such factors as materials, tooling, manufacturing times, inspection times, and types of equipment required. Work closely with machinists, quality, engineering, management, and other team members to successfully satisfy the end customer. Experience with sourcing material and finishes. Sheet metal estimating experience on prototype, low volume, and high volume quantities Requirements for applicants Must Have Knowledge of: Multitude of sheet metal fabrication technologies Must have experience with programming and set-up of water jet, laser, punch press, brake, and simple custom tooling knowledge. Must have knowledge of welding and cost estimations on welding. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T). Protocols, standards, technologies, and machining applications. Reviewing customer RFQs to determine material requirements, processing, and job routing. Communicating with customers to accurately define requirements and expectations. Work with outside vendors/services to achieve the best possible prices. Consolidating all outside costs and internal costs associated with process time in engineering, fabrication, post-fabric assembly, finishing, and QC. Creating detailed quote packages for final review. Managing quote logs daily and KPI tracking Ability to: Interrogate engineering solid models and drawings and is familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Manipulate / modify solid models Provide technical support to machinists and process engineers during fabrication operations. Demonstrate excellent organizational discipline Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. Effectively review and analyze DFM problems. Operate effectively in a team environment.
