Wintel Administrator

Summary: Wintel Administrator - will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Windows-based infrastructure and systems within our organization. This role will be crucial in maintaining the stability, security, and efficiency of our Windows server environment.

Education: BE/B. Tech/ Bachelor or equivalent degree

Experience: 4+ years of experience in Wintel administration.

Certifications: MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) - Preferred

Knowledge:

1. Manage Windows Servers – Handle tasks in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.

2. Support Virtual Machines – Use VMware or Hyper-V to manage and troubleshoot VMs.

3. Follow Security Best Practices – Apply secure configurations and assist with patching.

4. Monitor Systems – Use tools to track system health and respond to alerts.

5. Use ITSM Tools – Work with ticketing systems like ServiceNow to manage incidents and requests.

6. Work in a Team – Collaborate with colleagues and escalate issues when needed.

7. Support Network & Applications – Help with basic network issues and application troubleshooting.

8. Assist with Cloud Platforms – Support tasks in cloud environments like Azure, GCP, or VMware.

Skills:

1. Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills, with excellent written, verbal, and presentation abilities.

2. Excellent skills in conflict resolution and team motivation.

3. The candidate should be detail-oriented in managing technical configurations, documentation, and service delivery processes, with a strong focus on quality and accuracy in both project execution and operational support.

Server Administration:

•     Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers (physical and virtual), Windows Failover Cluster.

•     Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

•     Perform regular system updates and patch management.

Monitoring & Performance Tuning:

•     Monitor server performance and availability using tools like vROPS, SCOM, or SolarWinds.

•     Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize system resources.

Backup & Disaster Recovery:

•     Implement and manage windows backup.

•     Ensure disaster recovery plans are in place and tested.

Security & Compliance:

•     Applying hardening benchmarks and Mitigating systems against vulnerabilities.

•     Ensure compliance with internal and external IT policies.

Virtualization:

•     Manage virtual environments using VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms.

•     Provision and maintain virtual machines.

Incident & Problem Management:

•     Respond to incidents and service requests.

•     Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues.

Automation & Scripting:

•     Use PowerShell or other scripting tools to automate routine tasks.
