Voyage/Weather Routing specialist

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Monitor and analyze weather conditions, ocean currents, and vessel performance to provide real-time routing advice and recommendations. Develop and issue optimized voyage plans using weather routing software Collaborate with Masters, Chartering, Fleet Managers, and Operators to ensure alignment on route strategy, ETA commitments, and performance targets. Provide alerts on adverse weather conditions, recommending course alterations or speed adjustments to maintain safety and efficiency. Analyze post-voyage reports and recommend performance improvements. Support CII and carbon intensity monitoring through voyage planning and adjustments. Contribute to emissions reduction strategies through optimal route planning. Participate in the development and implementation of digital tools for route optimization and performance tracking. Maintain accurate records of weather events, deviations, and decisions for audit and analysis. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, Meteorology, or related field. Seagoing experience as deck officer is mandatory or prior experience in a weather routing or vessel performance role preferred. Familiarity with marine weather systems, forecasts, and oceanographic data. Experience using weather routing and voyage optimization tools. Knowledge of MARPOL regulations, EEXI/CII framework, and decarbonization initiatives is a plus. Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
