Job Title : Veterinarian Location : Blue Cross of India, Chennai, Tamil Nadu Qualification : B.V.Sc. & A.H. (Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry) Experience : Minimum 2 years of clinical experience Employment Type : Full-time About Us Blue Cross of India is one of the country's oldest and most respected animal welfare organizations. Our mission is to provide medical care, shelter, and rehabilitation to sick, injured, abandoned, and abused animals while promoting compassion and responsible animal care. Job Summary We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in clinical diagnosis, treatment, and surgery of domestic animals and street animals. You will work closely with our shelter staff and volunteers to ensure the well-being of the animals in our care. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine and emergency medical examinations and treatments Perform sterilization surgeries and minor/major surgeries as required Diagnose illnesses and determine appropriate treatments or procedures Administer vaccinations, medication, and first aid to animals Oversee post-operative care and recovery of animals Conducting regular Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Liver Function Tests (LFT) & Renal Function Tests (RFT) , X Rays and Scans for inpatient and permanent shelter animals regularly and interpret the results. Maintain accurate medical records for all treated animals Collaborate with the rescue team for field visits and on-site treatment and also go in the Mobile Hospital for Treatment of animals on field Educate the public, volunteers, and caregivers on animal care and welfare Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and protocols Participate in awareness and outreach programs organized by the organization Requirements Empathy and compassion for animals, and a commitment to animal welfare Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science (B.V.Sc. & A.H.) Valid veterinary license registered with the relevant state veterinary council Minimum 2 years of hands-on clinical experience in treating domestic and/or stray animals Proficiency in small animal surgery is an added advantage (especially ABC/sterilization procedures) Strong diagnostic, surgical, and decision-making skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Preferred Skills Experience in working with NGOs or animal shelters Knowledge of zoonotic diseases and public health concerns Ability to handle high-pressure situations and emergencies Willingness to work on weekends and during emergencies Remuneration Commensurate with experience and industry standards.
