VB.NET Developer

Role & responsibilities

Develop and maintain software applications:

• Develop and maintain software applications using VB .NET and the .NET framework.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices.
• Design and implement new features for existing applications and software systems.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, product managers, and QA engineers, to ensure alignment on project requirements.
• Conduct debugging and troubleshooting to identify, resolve, and prevent issues in the applications.

Database interaction

• Write SQL queries and interact with databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL) to retrieve, update, and manipulate data.
• Perform regular code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
• Ensure documentation of applications, code, and processes for future maintenance and upgrades.
• Maintain version control and work in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Participate in testing activities, including unit testing and integration testing.
• Provide ongoing support for existing applications and contribute to improving performance and functionality.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in VB .NET and experience with the .NET framework.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
• Experience with relational databases and writing SQL queries (e.g., MS SQL Server, Oracle).
• Familiarity with Windows Forms, ASP.NET, and Web API development.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Knowledge of version control tools, such as Git or SVN.
• Good understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
• Familiarity with MVC architecture or MVVM patterns.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with Cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure.
• Exposure to DevOps practices or CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
• Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
