Position: Energy Storage Systems Engineer Organization : AR- Advanced Cell technology Location: Hyderabad Corporate Office Qualication & Experience : Experience: 4-5 Years Education: B.E/ B.Tech [Electrical /Chemical Engineering] Preferred : Energy storage systems (ESS) for grid applications. Job Purpose: We are seeking a skilled and experienced UPS LiB Batteries Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, I & C and testing of high-voltage energy storage systems, with a focus on battery packs and energy management systems for applications such as UPS applications aand industrial applications. This role requires deep knowledge of battery technologies, power electronics, and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Development: Development of high-voltage battery systems, including cell selection, battery pack architecture, thermal management, and system Integration Develop and optimize battery management systems (BMS) for high voltage applications, ensuring safety, performance, and reliability. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineering teams to integrate battery systems into larger energy storage solutions or UPS Solutions. Research and Innovation: Conduct research on emerging battery technologies (e.g., solid-state batteries, advanced lithium-ion chemistries) and their application in high-voltage ESS/UPS. Evaluate new materials, components, and technologies to improve the energy density, efficiency, and cycle life of battery systems. Prototype and validate new designs through simulation and experimental testing, iterating on designs based on results. Integration with multiple OEs like Eaton,Schneider,Vertiv,etc Testing and validation: Develop and implement testing protocols for high-voltage batteries, including performance testing, safety testing, and environmental testing. Analyze test data to identify failure modes and optimize designs to meet industry standards and customer requirements. Ensure compliance with relevant safety and performance standards (e.g., UN38.3, IEC 62619, UL 1973, UL 9540A) and assist in the certification process. Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all high-voltage battery designs adhere to stringent safety standards, including thermal runaway prevention, overcharge/overdischarge protection, and insulation requirements. Work closely with regulatory bodies and certification agencies to ensure compliance with local and international regulations. Develop safety protocols and training materials for handling and testing high-voltage battery systems. Documentation and Communication: Create and maintain detailed documentation for all aspects of battery system design, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and test reports. Prepare technical reports, white papers, and presentations to communicate findings and progress to stakeholders, including management and external partners. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, standards, and best practices in high voltage energy storage systems. Collaboration and Project Management: Work with cross-functional teams to manage the development process from concept to production, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality targets are met. Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and external partners to source components and ensure the manufacturability of designs. Installation & Commissioning If necessary, have physical site visit and understand the necessary requirements and define scope between customer Define Scope of Works based on Project requirements to Engineering, infra team, Marketing, etc Plan Materials and resources for Installation and Commissioning. Complete Installation and Commissioning as per Customer Requirements Qualifications: Education: Bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field. A specialization in energy storage or power electronics is preferred. Experience: Min 4-5 years of experience in the design and development of high-voltage battery systems, particularly in UPS/ESS applications. Proven track record of developing and bringing high-voltage battery systems to production. Skills: Deep understanding of battery technologies, including lithium-ion and alternative chemistries. Proficiency in power electronics, circuit design, and battery management systems (BMS). Experience with simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink) and CAD software for battery pack design. Knowledge of thermal management, safety standards, and industry regulations for high-voltage batteries. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Desirable: Experience with UPS for data Centres and Industrial Applications Familiarity with UPS Sizing Publications or patents in the field of high-voltage battery systems.
