Unit Head

Role & responsibilities

• Headed the pre-commissioning and commissioning of chemical plants as well as scaling up the chemical production.

• Identify and implement plant improvement opportunities; translate insights into actionable tasks and plans.
• Ensure achievement of production targets in compliance with quality standards and safety protocols.
• Prepare and manage shift-wise production planning to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
• Support the team in effectively handling plant emergencies and ensuring timely resolution.
• Optimize raw material and utility consumption to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Monitor batch cycle times and yields; drive continuous process improvement.
• Schedule plant startup and shutdown operations; prepare and execute monthly preventive maintenance plans.
• Coordinate with the service/maintenance team for both preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Analyse process-related problems and provide effective troubleshooting solutions.

Preferred candidate profile

Equipment Commissioning:

1. Distillation columns, Glass line rectors, Scrubbers, Ejector System, multiple effective evaporator.

• Unit Processes:

1. Experience with highly exothermic, endothermic, and pressurized reactions.

2. Hands-on expertise in Bromination and Chlorination processes.

• Unit Operations:

1. Distillation Batch and continuous (both atmospheric and vacuum).

2. Filtration Agitated Nutsche Filter, Sparkler Filters, Centrifuges.

3. Evaporation multi-effect evaporators.

4. Crystallization – Batch and continuous; vacuum crystallization.

5. Drying – Continuous fluidized bed dryers and rotary vacuum dryers.

6. Gas Scrubbing – Handling hazardous gases such as bromine and chlorine through effective scrubbing systems.

• Environment, Health & Safety (EHS):

1. Ensure strict adherence to EHS standards and regulatory requirements.

2. Participate in emergency preparedness planning.

3. Conduct regular mock drills for handling hazardous chemicals such as chlorine and bromine.
