Job Title: Trainer – In-Store Demonstrator

Job Summary

The is responsible for training candidates to perform effective in-store product demonstrations and drive customer engagement and sales. The trainer delivers domain knowledge, product handling skills, demo techniques, customer interaction, and retail operations practices. The role includes classroom and shop-floor practical training, assessments, documentation, grooming candidates for placements/OJT, and ensuring training quality as per syllabus and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Training Delivery (Theory + Practical)

• Deliver training sessions for In-Store Demonstrator / Retail Promoter / Product Demonstrator batches as per approved curriculum/QP/NOS.
• Teach product demonstration fundamentals:
• Product features & benefits
• USP mapping to customer needs
• Hands-on demo flow and storytelling
• Conversion techniques (trial → interest → purchase)
• Conduct role plays, mock counters, and real-time floor simulations.

2. Product & Category Knowledge

• Train candidates on relevant store categories (FMCG, electronics, appliances, personal care, telecom, etc.):
• Product specs, variants, pricing, offers
• Competitor comparison and objection handling
• Add-on and cross-sell models
• Coordinate with brand/retail partners for latest product updates.

3. Customer Handling & Communication

• Train on customer engagement:
• Greeting, probing needs, active listening
• Explaining clearly and confidently
• Handling queries and difficult customers
• Closing and upselling
• Develop communication skills in local language + basic English/Hindi as needed.

4. Store Operations & Retail Discipline

• Train on core retail practices:
• Store SOPs and code of conduct
• Counter hygiene and merchandising basics
• Stock/replenishment support
• Price tag/offer visibility checks
• Reporting to store manager/brand supervisor
• Ensure candidates understand attendance, punctuality, grooming, and workplace behavior.

5. Grooming & Personality Development

• Coach trainees on:
• Professional appearance and body language
• Voice modulation and confidence
• Etiquette, teamwork, and time management
• Provide individualized feedback to improve demo performance.

6. Assessment & Certification Support

• Prepare lesson plans, demo scripts, practice worksheets, and evaluation rubrics.
• Conduct - Theory tests & Practical demo assessments (live + simulated)
• Maintain evidence: attendance, training photos/videos, assessment sheets, candidate portfolios.
• Support SSC/third-party assessments and certification processes.

7. Batch & Classroom Management

• Manage batch discipline and learning pace.
• Identify slow learners and provide remedial training.
• Track progress vs. course timeline and learning outcomes.
• Ensure safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment.

8. Placement / OJT Support (if applicable)

• Coordinate with placement team for store interviews and OJT readiness.
• Coach candidates on interview questions and demo trials.
• Support employer visits, onboarding documentation, and follow-ups.

9. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain daily session logs, weekly progress reports, and candidate records in MIS.
• Report training outcomes, issues, and store feedback to the Training/Project Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Minimum: 12th Pass / Graduate (any stream).
• Preferred: Diploma/Graduate in Retail, Marketing, Business, or Communication.

Experience

• 2–5 years experience in retail sales, brand promotion, store demonstration, or customer service.
• Prior experience as a trainer in NSDC/SSC/Skill Development programs preferred.
• Experience handling live product counters or modern trade stores is a strong plus.
