Job Description

Being a Tour Leader at Anubhav ..

Most people think tour leading is about knowing facts and leading the group from Point A to Point B. No, it's not. It's about reading the room when someone's homesick at 2 AM. It's about knowing when to stick to the itinerary and when to chase that street musician down an alley because this is the moment that'll make the trip. You'll handle pre-tour emails that build excitement, not just share information. You'll reach out to hotels and homestays before arrival, not just to confirm bookings, but to make sure the experience feels seamless, personal, and worth remembering. On tour, you're part guide, part problem-solver, part storyteller, part I-know-that-little-detour. You'll manage check-ins, yes. But you'll also notice when the quiet one finally laughs. When a street vendor stops someone mid-step, and they actually stop and listen to their story.

Job Profile:

Responsibilities

  • Handle pre-tour communication with information on itineraries, destinations, and culture.
  • Stay in touch with designated hotels/homestays and other partners prior to the visit, to ensure all arrangements are in order.
  • Manage on-tour logistics including assisting tourists with check-in and settling them into their accommodation.
  • Respond to questions, deal with emergencies, and offer help with any problems that arise, ranging from simple matters, such as directing a member of the group to the nearest chemist, to more severe issues, such as tracing lost baggage.
  • Obtain feedback from travelers.

Requirements

  • You have 2+ years of experience as a Tour Manager or Tour Leader, you've been in the field, handled the chaos, and come out with stories.
  • You are a people person, pleasant, outgoing, and genuinely curious about people from all walks of life.
  • You can work independently and think on your feet when plans change (and they will).
  • You know the essentials cold: travel documents, visa formalities, airline rules, etc.
  • You are a walking encyclopedia on history, culture, food, and geography, but you share it like a friend, not a textbook.
  • You speak the language of travelers, not tourists; you know the difference..
  • If you are a foodie who can actually recommend what to eat (vegetarians, this role gets tricky; you can guide people through street food you've never tasted).
  • If you speak or are genuinely interested in learning languages, it opens doors, literally.
  • If You speak Marathi (not a dealbreaker, but helpful, most of our travelers do)
  • Sunrises that stop you mid-sentence
  • Strangers who become family by day three
  • Moments where you watch someone fall in love with a place, and through their eyes, you fall all over again
  • The quiet ride home when you realize: this is why you do it
