An opportunity has arisen for a part time, permanent Conservation Officer in Development Management to contribute to this agenda by providing advice on conservation matters and dealing with listed building consent applications. The ideal candidate should have a professional qualification in conservation, architecture, planning, or urban design and is a member of the IHBC or RTPI along with an established track record in heritage and building conservation, preferably with experience of working in or with a Local Authority. Experience of interpreting technical drawings and producing reports is essential as well as confidence in your knowledge, excellent communication and strong negotiation skills. Candidates will need to have a clear understanding of what constitutes the historic environment and an ability to assess the relevant significance of its constituent parts; a good knowledge of historic building construction, materials, common defects and how to address them.
