Overview

We are hiring a

Test Environment Operations Engineer

with hands-on experience in operating and maintaining automotive development test environments, HiL systems, and diagnostic test benches. The ideal candidate will manage daily bench operations, execute diagnostic test procedures, analyze data, and support development teams with debugging and validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Operation of Test Benches
  • Ensure continuous daily operation of automotive E/E development benches and HiL systems.
  • Perform morning readiness checks, system initialization, and calibration.
  • Monitor system health, communication networks, power supply, and bench performance.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues to maintain maximum uptime.
  • Diagnostic Testing Execution
  • Execute UDS, DTC, fault memory, and diagnostic test procedures.
  • Perform positive, negative, and boundary diagnostic scenarios.
  • Validate diagnostic functionality for different ECU variants and software versions.
  • Support developers during debugging sessions and verification activities.
  • HiL System Operation
  • Operate HiL systems (dSPACE, Vector, ETAS or similar) for simulations and automated tests.
  • Configure restbus simulations, real-time models, and I/O assignments.
  • Monitor real-time simulation states and ensure synchronization with physical hardware.
  • Execute fault injection and robustness validation routines.
  • Test Monitoring & Data Evaluation
  • Collect and analyze test data, logs, bus traces, and diagnostic responses.
  • Use CANoe/CANalyzer, INCA, MATLAB, or equivalent tools for data evaluation.
  • Provide structured feedback on anomalies, diagnostic issues, or unexpected behaviors.
  • Support root-cause analysis with detailed logs and insights.
  • Issue Detection, Troubleshooting & Reporting
  • Detect deviations in test execution, bench stability, or diagnostic responses.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, wiring, network, and software-related issues.
  • Maintain detailed incident logs, bench downtime records, and fixes.
  • Prepare reports and communicate findings to development teams.
  • Configuration & Environment Management
  • Ensure test environments align with the latest software releases and diagnostic datasets.
  • Update test scripts, restbus configurations, and automation sequences.
  • Maintain clear documentation for bench operation, procedures, and configurations.

Technical Skills (Advanced)

HiL & Test Environment Operation

  • Experience with HiL platforms: dSPACE SCALEXIO, Vector VT, ETAS LABCAR.
  • Hands-on knowledge of simulation model execution, I/O mapping, and sensor/actuator emulation.
  • Ability to monitor real-time simulations and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.

Diagnostic Testing

  • Strong understanding of UDS (ISO 14229), OBD, DoIP.
  • Experience validating DTCs, session control, security access, and diagnostic services.
  • Skilled in interpreting communication traces via Vector tools.

Data Analysis & Tools

  • Proficient with CANoe, CANalyzer, INCA, MATLAB, Excel.
  • Skilled in analyzing logs, bus traces, and diagnostic datasets.
  • Scripting knowledge in CAPL or Python is an advantage.

E/E System Knowledge

  • Understanding of ECU communication networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
  • Basic knowledge of power states, wake-up behavior, and network management.

Process & Standards

  • Experience working in ASPICE environments.
  • Familiarity with V-model development and CI-based test environments.

Soft Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and structured working style.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear communication and effective documentation habits.
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced development environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years of experience operating HiL systems, test benches, or automotive development environments.
  • Experience with diagnostics, ECU communication tools, and test data evaluation.
  • Prior experience in automotive R&D or validation is highly preferred.
