Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Test Bench & HiL Maintenance Engineer
with strong hands-on expertise in automotive E/E integration, HiL systems, and test environment maintenance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, adapting, and upgrading
E³ 1.2 test benches
, ensuring stable, accurate, and up-to-date environments to support vehicle E/E validation activities. This role requires deep knowledge of HiL platforms, diagnostics, network configuration, and hardware troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Bench Maintenance & Upgrades
- Perform regular maintenance of E³ 1.2 test benches to ensure stability and operational readiness.
- Upgrade hardware components (ECUs, switches, breakout boxes, power modules) based on engineering baselines.
- Troubleshoot hardware issues, communication drops, wiring faults, and bench instabilities.
- Test Setup Adaptation & Network Configuration
- Adapt test bench setups for new ECU variants, features, and software releases.
- Configure and validate CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Ethernet networks.
- Ensure alignment of HiL configuration with wiring layouts and simulation models.
- HiL System Management
- Maintain and operate HiL platforms (dSPACE, Vector, ETAS).
- Manage I/O mapping, sensor/actuator simulation, restbus simulation, and fault injection modules.
- Perform synchronization, calibration, and update activities for real-time simulation systems.
- E/E Integration & Hardware Alignment
- Ensure test bench hardware is aligned with the latest vehicle E/E architecture.
- Review harness diagrams, wiring schematics, and system documentation for proper bench setup.
- Integrate new modules such as ECUs, gateways, sensors, and load boxes.
- Test Automation & Tools
- Create and maintain automation scripts using LabVIEW, Python, CAPL, or similar tools.
- Develop diagnostic utilities and communication monitoring tools.
- Implement automated health checks and bench monitoring sequences.
- Diagnostics & Communication Validation
- Validate UDS, OBD, DoIP, and XCP protocol communication on HiL and bench setups.
- Troubleshoot UDS request/response issues, DTC handling, and diagnostic failures.
- Use tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, INCA, and diagnostic consoles for analysis.
- Documentation & Configuration Management
- Maintain updated documentation: wiring layouts, bench diagrams, interface definitions, and configuration logs.
- Track all bench changes in accordance with baseline and configuration management standards.
- Provide user training and technical support to validation teams.
Technical Skills (Advanced)
Test Bench & HiL Expertise
- Hands-on experience with dSPACE SCALEXIO, Vector VT System, ETAS LABCAR.
- Strong understanding of restbus simulation, I/O configuration, sensor/actuator modeling, and fault injection.
E/E Integration Knowledge
- Solid understanding of vehicle E/E architecture and ECU interfacing.
- Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and network topology documents.
Automation & Scripting
- LabVIEW (strong advantage for automation).
- Python, CAPL, or similar scripting languages.
- Experience with CANoe, CANalyzer, INCA, XCP-based tools.
Diagnostics
- Experience with UDS (ISO 14229), OBD, DTC behavior, and diagnostic routines.
Standards & Processes
- Familiarity with Automotive SPICE processes.
- Understanding of ISO 26262 hardware/system testing (good to have).
Soft Skills
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on approach to working with hardware and lab equipment.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 4 – 6 years of experience in automotive HiL, E/E integration, or test bench maintenance.
- Strong practical experience with diagnostics, communication tools, and HiL platforms.
- Experience in automotive R&D, validation, or test labs is preferred.
