Technician

Job Description

Job Title: Technician (Off Roll) Department: Production / Maintenance / Assembly Reporting To: Supervisor / Line Manager Location: Chennai Job Purpose: To perform mechanical, electrical, and structural assembly and maintenance work involved in the manufacturing of buses. The technician will be responsible for ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency during the production process. Key Responsibilities: Assemble bus parts including chassis, body, interior, and powertrain components. Install electrical and electronic systems, including lighting, wiring harnesses, and dashboard components. Perform welding, cutting, and fitting operations as required. Conduct mechanical installations such as engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension systems. Inspect and test components and systems to ensure proper functioning. Maintain tools and equipment in good condition. Report any deviations or defects in components to the supervisor. Adhere to safety standards and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Support troubleshooting and rework of defective units when necessary. Qualifications: Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, or related trade. Minimum 13 years of experience in automobile or bus/truck manufacturing preferred. Skills & Competencies: Hands-on experience with tools, equipment, and machinery used in manufacturing. Basic knowledge of automotive electrical and mechanical systems. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and wiring diagrams. Problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Good physical stamina and ability to work in a shop-floor environment. Ability to work in teams and follow instructions accurately. Additional Requirements: Willingness to work in shifts (if required). Familiarity with lean manufacturing and 5S principles is an advantage. Experience with EV (electric vehicle) systems is a plus (for electric bus manufacturing).
