Job Title: Technician and pilot Location: IGCEL Lab, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore Type: Internship Job Summary: The IGCEL Lab at IISc is seeking a skilled and hands-on Technician to support ongoing research and development efforts. The ideal candidate will assist in mechanical fabrication, drone assembly, component manufacturing, and technical operations in the lab. This role involves a blend of workshop work, CAD design, electronics support, and field testing. Key Responsibilities: Drone pilot certification (DGCA or equivalent) is a strong plus (fixed wing and multirotor) Assist in the procurement of components, tools, and materials. Perform mechanical work including fabrication, fitting, and assembly of mechanical systems. Carry out soldering and basic electronics assembly for drones and test rigs. Support the assembly, testing, and maintenance of drones and related systems. Operate workshop tools such as drills, grinders, saws, and 3D printers. Assist in the manufacturing of components using conventional and rapid prototyping methods. Create and modify CAD models and technical drawings for mechanical parts. Required Skills and Qualifications: ITI/Diploma in Mechanical/Electronics/Mechatronics or a related field. Drone-pilot certification Hands-on experience with mechanical tools and workshop practices. Working knowledge of soldering and basic electronics. Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360). Prior experience in drone assembly and troubleshooting is a strong plus.
