Position: Technical Writer (Hardware/Software Documentation)

Role Summary

KLA is seeking

experienced Technical Writers

with a background in engineering or science to create and manage high-quality technical content, primarily for

hardware products

. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, understanding complex systems, and developing documentation such as user manuals, service guides, upgrade procedures, and release notes.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain user manuals, service procedures, upgrade guides, release notes, and online help content.
Work closely with engineering, product, and service teams to gather inputs and translate them into clear documentation.
Participate in testing and validation of new procedures and update documentation accordingly.
Follow and improve documentation templates and best practices in line with industry standards.
Manage and track documentation projects using standard tools like MS Excel and maintain stakeholder communication.
Handle independent review cycles and updates, coordinating with global teams across time zones.
Write for both technical and non-technical audiences using clear, error-free English.

Mandatory Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
2–8 years of experience in technical writing (software or hardware), ideally for product companies.
Must have worked with DITA XML standards and tools like Oxygen XML Editor.
Proficiency in MS Word and good working knowledge of MS Excel.
Strong project and stakeholder management skills in a matrix organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum 2 years of stability in a single organization.
Candidate must be willing to work on hardware documentation.
Current company must not be HCL.
Candidate must be open to attending in-person interviews in Chennai.

Nice-to-Haves

Exposure to other documentation tools or publishing platforms.
Experience in the semiconductor or electronics domain.
Flexibility to support training or similar technical assignments when needed.

Round 1 – Virtual Interview
Round 2 – In-Person Interview in Chennai (includes written test + final rounds)
