Technical Lead - SDE4

About the role : (Equivalent to Associate Engineering manager and 1st level technical manager in the industry role mapping)

SDE4 TL are seasoned engineers who are quality conscious, product thinkers, business cognizant and smart. You will own one or more products or module. You will be responsible for HLD, LLD and architectural decision making. You will make decisions around scalability, future roadmap and partner with managers and product/business to take the product further.

Along with hands-on technical delivery you will lead and mentor diverse groups of people who are moving towards realizing Flipkart’s vision. They are responsible for both building scalable systems and leading high-performing teams. SDE4 TL provides technical leadership to identify and define the right component/system abstractions/capabilities for current/future product/platform tasks.

You are responsible for:

● Manage and coach the engineering teams in search core relevance or ranking teams

● Participate in building the long term strategy and blueprint for the team

● Develop and manage standards for deliverables with focus on scalability, high availability and performance

● Drive technical decisions and tradeoffs and deliver with speediness and quality

● Collaborate with stakeholders across functional boundaries and drive alignment

● Be a guide and mentor to the team and drive the culture of innovation and accountability

● Own the key functional and non-functional metrics for the team

You should have:

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

● 8+ years of total experience out of which 1+ year experience in scaling/deploying AI systems and supporting data infrastructure, and 6+ months experience of managing small group of engineers with track record of successful deliverables

● Deep understanding of developing and maintaining high scale distributed systems

● Good knowledge of classical machine learning, deep learning ,rank or automated pricing techniques

● Strong communication and analytical skills

● Past experience of working in fields related to information retrieval is highly desirable
