Job Description

The Senior System Analyst for Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based database solutions. This position focuses on ensuring the availability, scalability, and security of DBaaS environments while optimizing database performance to meet organizational needs. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate database solutions into enterprise architecture and driving innovation in database management. Key Responsibilities: Database Architecture and Design: Design and implement scalable and reliable DBaaS solutions using platforms such as Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL, or Oracle Autonomous Database. Develop database models and schemas that align with application requirements and business objectives. Implementation and Deployment: Configure and deploy DBaaS environments to support development, testing, and production workloads. Automate provisioning, monitoring, and backup processes using cloud-native tools or custom scripts. Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to ensure optimal query execution, indexing, and resource utilization. Analyze workload patterns and recommend capacity planning adjustments. Security and Compliance: Ensure databases are secured with proper access controls, encryption, and auditing in compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, or SOC 2). Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and patch management for DBaaS environments. Integration and Collaboration: Collaborate with application development teams to integrate DBaaS solutions seamlessly into enterprise applications. Work closely with cloud architects, network engineers, and DevOps teams to align database solutions with organizational infrastructure. Incident Management and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database issues, including outages, performance bottlenecks, and data inconsistencies. Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize downtime risks. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on advancements in DBaaS technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve database management efficiency. Implement DevOps practices such as Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines for database operations. Documentation and Training: Document database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures. Mentor junior analysts and provide training on DBaaS best practices. Skills and Qualifications: Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of DBaaS platforms such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL, or Oracle Cloud Database. Strong understanding of database technologies, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible). Familiarity with database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies. Cloud and DevOps Knowledge: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and their database offerings. Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools and CI/CD pipelines. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex database issues and propose effective solutions. Ability to assess and mitigate risks related to database performance and security. Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and across departments. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Database Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, or Google Professional Database Engineer). Experience with database replication, clustering, and high-availability configurations. Knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB) is a plus. Familiarity with compliance standards like PCI DSS, GDPR, or HIPAA.
