System Administrator

Role & responsibilities

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the monitoring of and performing daily operations on Windows servers, Microsoft Active Directory, SAN and NAS storage, Data Protection and their related subsystems. This position is also responsible for installation, documentation, monitoring performance and management of hardware and software to support. The System Administrator possesses knowledge of intermediate network management and provides second level support.

Job Duties

• Monitors trouble ticket queue for new requests, takes ownership of requests, follows tickets to completion
• Monitors performance based alerts, and administers daily operational tasks on Windows servers as outlined in the Windows Standard Operating Procedure document
• Investigates Windows server alerts, determines corrective action and escalates to On Call System Engineer, as necessary
• Creates, deletes and modifies Active Directory objects while following the guidance outlined in the AD Naming Conventions and Standards
• Identifies, investigates and resolves issues related to Data Protection
• Install, operate, document, and monitor.
• Perform upgrades on a variety of network devices including routers, switches, battery back-up systems, and out of band management devices.
• Track update and resolve assigned incidents, changes and problem reports in the incident management system, ensuring that documentation is thorough, accurate and meets a standard of high quality.
• Properly escalate incidents in a timely manner per support guidelines and procedures
• Performs day-to-day monitoring and management of Network Security systems, including exercising discretion on whether to disable internet traffic into Firm network or firewall
• Completes and updates system documentation as directed by managers
• Serves as a backup and On-site Desktop Support Technician
• Coordinate with 3rd party vendors as needed
• Other duties as required

Preferred candidate profile

Education:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field preferred

Experience:

• Two (2) or more years of experience administering multiple Microsoft systems, preferred
• Familiar with data protection technologies such as snapshots and replication preferred

License/Certifications:

• Microsoft MCSA certification preferred
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) preferred

Software:

• Prior experience administering Microsoft Windows servers required
• Prior experience administering Microsoft Active Directory objects required
• Demonstrated knowledge of (preferred):
• Packet capture and analysis Wireshark or similar
• Microsoft Windows (server and workstation) relating to security & patch management
• Understanding of virus and malware detection & removal
• Prior experience or knowledge of VMWare vSphere ESXi preferred
• Prior experience or knowledge of Microsoft Azure technologies preferred
• Prior experience with networking technologies related to security such as Cisco IOS, Cisco firewalls (ASA), IPSEC/SSL VPN technologies preferred
