DATABASE Technical Resource Requirement a) Qualification: The Technical Resource should hold a B.E. or B.Tech degree. b) Experience: The Technical Resource should have a minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience on SQL based database administration, preferably on BIM-DB2, in a production infrastructure environment at a data center. c) Duties Pertaining to Database Administration, But Not Limited To: Database Installation and Configuration: Install and configure the DB2 database software and ensure proper setup according to system requirements and department needs. Ensure Continuous Availability: The primary responsibility is to ensure 100% uptime for the production infrastructure. Database Design and Optimization: Design efficient database schemas and optimize the database for performance, ensuring fast data retrieval and optimal resource usage. Data Security and Access Control: Implement and enforce security measures, including user roles, access control, and database encryption to ensure data confidentiality and compliance with regulations. Backup and Recovery Management: Plan and perform regular database backups, manage disaster recovery processes, and restore data in case of failures. Performance Monitoring and Tuning: Continuously monitor DB2 database performance, analyse query performance, and fine-tune indexes, queries, and configurations for optimal database performance. Capacity Planning and Scaling: Monitor database storage usage, plan for future growth, and scale the systems infrastructure and database to accommodate increasing data and traffic. Database Migration and Upgrades: Manage database migrations from older versions of DB2 or other database platforms, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal downtime. Handle version upgrades as required. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnose and resolve database issues such as deadlocks, slow queries, or corruption, ensuring minimal disruption to department operations. Patch and Update Management: Regularly apply patches, hotfixes, and updates to keep the DB2 database secure and up to date with the latest bug fixes and security enhancements. Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with developers to understand application requirements, design optimal database structures, create database objects, and assist in query optimization and troubleshooting during development. HADR Implementation and Management: Set up, configure, and maintain High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) environments to ensure DB2 databases are highly available. Periodical Database Maintenance: Periodically run DB2CHECK to check for database corruption or inconsistencies, such as damaged pages or missing records. Perform REORG to reclaim space, reorganize tables, and optimize performance. Run RUNSTATS to gather up-to-date statistics for query optimization. Monitor and resolve any issues found during the integrity check, such as corruption or inconsistencies, to ensure minimal downtime and data consistency.
