SUSE Linux Administrator (SAP S/4HANA Environment)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced SUSE Linux Administrator to manage the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) for SAP S/4HANA on Dell PowerEdge R760 servers . The candidate will work closely with SAP engineers, customers, and internal teams to ensure seamless installation and optimization of the SAP landscape. Key Responsibilities: 1. Installation & Configuration Install and configure SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) for SAP Applications . Ensure best practices for SAP S/4HANA hosting on Dell PowerEdge R760 hardware. Perform system updates, patching, and security hardening. Set up user and service accounts for SAP applications. 2. Storage & Network Management Configure LVM, RAID, and NFS storage for SAP application requirements. Optimize storage performance and backup/recovery solutions . Work with networking teams to set up network bonding, VLANs, and firewall rules for SAP connectivity. 3. SAP Coordination & Deployment Collaborate with SAP engineers to ensure the environment meets SAP S/4HANA prerequisites . Assist in setting up SAP HANA databases and required dependencies. Troubleshoot Linux OS-related issues impacting SAP operations. Support SAP Basis teams with OS-level configurations and performance tuning. 4. System Hardening & Performance Tuning Implement OS security policies and best practices. Optimize system performance, including kernel tuning, memory management, and I/O optimization . Configure system monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios). 5. Documentation & Compliance Maintain as-built documentation of configurations, deployments, and changes. Ensure compliance with customer security policies and change management processes . Provide guidance and documentation for disaster recovery and business continuity planning . Required Qualifications & Skills: 5+ years of experience as a SUSE Linux Administrator , preferably in SAP environments. Hands-on experience with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) for SAP Applications . Strong knowledge of Dell PowerEdge servers and hardware configuration. Expertise in storage management (LVM, RAID, SAN, NFS, backup/recovery) . Experience working with SAP Basis teams for SAP HANA and S/4HANA deployments. Understanding of networking concepts (VLANs, firewall rules, DNS, NTP, etc.). Experience with performance tuning, system hardening, and security best practices . Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Bash scripting). Strong communication skills to coordinate with SAP engineers, customers, and internal teams . Preferred Qualifications: SUSE Certified Administrator (SCA) or SUSE Certified Engineer (SCE) in Enterprise Linux. Experience with SAP HANA high availability and disaster recovery . Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, KVM) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) . Work Environment & Hardware: Managing 5 Dell PowerEdge R760 servers for SAP S/4HANA installations. Collaborating with SAP engineers and customer teams for project success.
