As a Supplier Technical Engineer, your primary objective is to ensure that suppliers deliver products that meet contractual and customer requirements. You will play a critical role in supplier quality assurance, development, and process optimization, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve excellence in product quality and manufacturability. Qualification & Experience B.E / M.E Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 5-10 years in Supplier quality, Supplier development, Auditing. Understanding of Fabrication, Welding and NDT techniques. Understanding of other manufacturing processes eg. Machining, Casting, Electro-Mechanical assembly. Knowledge of ISO9001; ISO14001; ISO45001 and related eg. ISO TS 16949, ISO 3834 Basic understanding of QHSE management system implementation and risk assessment Knowledge of Problem-Solving Resolution tools and techniques (8D, root cause analysis, containment activities) Skills Strong analytical skills Good communication skills Negotiation skills Collaborative skills Good Interpersonal skills Travel Based on the exigency of the task assigned Able to travel on short notice Responsibilities Support suppliers in the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes which are capable of meeting requirements for quality, cost, delivery and lead time Maintain and/or govern elements of the Technical Package of the product which clearly define the manufacturing process and control it effectively, culminating in product validation via the First Article Inspection process Work with interfacing teams (Engineering, Product Management, Site ME/Quality, etc) and suppliers to ensure technical requirements are understood and accounted for, specifically including Source and Method Change and New Product Introduction. Resolve technical problems/enquiries related to the product Identify opportunities for new or improved manufacturing processes to meet current or future requirements Identify and share best practice; capture and utilize lessons learned Support site quality teams in the implementation and management of containment activities in the affected suppliers Support site quality teams to effectively manage supplier non-conformance ensuring robust problem resolution including root cause and corrective action through 7 Step or 8D as appropriate Analyze supplier performance data to identify escalation requirements and improvement opportunities. Coordinate and drive Escalation process as required Train and coach suppliers to improve aspects of their business performance e.g. Supplier Quality Requirements (SQR) Define and implement inspection overchecks including Customer Eyes Overcheck, Factory Acceptance Testing and Source Inspection as appropriate Approve new suppliers / Verify supplier compliance via suitable audit and process assessments (when within personal authorization) Support Category Managers with technical knowledge during strategy development and supplier selection Ensure manufacturing processes comply with relevant legal requirements (regulatory, HS &E, etc) & customer requirements Check supplier activities are in line with KM HSE requirements (i.e: ISO14001 / ISO45001 compliance). Support suppliers to identify HSE risks and to take actions to mitigate them (HSE areas of focus - checklist). Other tasks assigned by the line manager
