Job Description

Job Summary The Supplier Quality Development Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all parts and components supplied to the Company must meet the necessary quality standards. This role involves developing and managing supplier quality, conducting thorough audits, and working closely with suppliers to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives. Experience Profile Proven experience as supplier quality engineer from Automobile industry preferably of Tier -1 category. Must have strong exposure to commodities: Iron castings, Aluminium Castings, CNC Turned Parts, Gears, Sinters, Plastic, Rubber items. Experience in Vendor evaluation, System Audit. Experience in New product development, timely execution of projects. Conversant with ISO 9001/ IATF 16949 standards in terms of vendor management. Proficient in using relevant ERP system and tools. Key Responsibilities 1. Supplier Quality Management: Develop and maintain supplier quality assurance processes and standards. Conduct regular, thorough audits of vendors & processes to ensure compliance with quality requirements. Manage supplier on boarding processes to ensure new suppliers meet all quality standards. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance metrics (PPM, on-time delivery, etc.). Responsible for maintaining high quality standards at suppliers end throughout the duration of the projects. 2. Quality Assurance: Review and approve supplier quality documentation (FMEAs, control plans, PPAPs, etc.). Establishing Process Capabilities above 1.67 Cpk for achieving supplier PPM to be lower than 1000 ppm. Ensure suppliers adhere to quality standards for incoming child parts and machined castings. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for supplier- related quality issues. 3. Continuous Improvement: Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers. Collaborate with suppliers to develop and implement quality improvement plans. Lead projects aimed at reducing defects, improving process capabilities, and enhancing overall supplier performance. 4. Technical Support: Provide technical support to suppliers to resolve quality-related issues using 8D methodology & problem-solving tools. Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure product quality. Assist in the development of new suppliers and on boarding processes. 5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of supplier performance, audits, and corrective actions. Prepare regular reports on supplier quality metrics and improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Skills: Analytical mindset & structured approach towards problem solving Strong project management skills. Proficiency in using quality tools and software (e.g., SPC, Minitab). Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Academic Qualification / Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance function including process quality assurance & supplier quality assurance Certified internal auditor for ISO 9001:2015 & IATF 16949:2016. Six sigma Green Belt/Black Belt Certification would be an added advantage Exp.- Min. 5 Years in any manufacturing industry, Must have strong exposure to commodities: Iron castings, Aluminium Castings Competencies / Capabilities Thorough understanding and working experience in Casting, CNC, VMC and other precision machining processes. Required Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, AIAG core tools (SPC, MSA, PPAP, FMEA & APQP). Experience with quality management systems and supplier audit processes. Proficiency in root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques. Communication: Ensure clear and effective communication with suppliers and internal teams regarding quality expectations, issues, and improvementinitiatives. Ability to travel to supplier locations as needed. Accountability Supplier Performance: Accountable for ensuring suppliers consistently meet quality standards and performance metrics, including PPM and on-time delivery. Audit Compliance: Responsible for conducting thorough supplier audits and ensuring compliance with internal and external quality standards. Issue Resolution: Accountable for the timely and effective resolution of supplier-related quality issues, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance quality and reduce defects. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of supplier performance, audits, corrective actions, and improvement plans.
