Introduction
This position if for an experienced supplier quality engineer in the semiconductor manufacturing industry. It is not suitable for a new college hire who has recently graduated. The candidate will be the first point of contact for all supplier-related quality issues and have the ability to drive solutions or drive suppliers to provide solutions to these issues concerning incoming chemicals, gases, wafers, slurries, and tooling. As one of GF’s supplier quality engineers working remotely from India, candidate will work with a specific commodity set and supplier. Candidate will be the primary interface with suppliers and support all GF Fabs needs globally for SGP, Germany & US-East coast operations. You will protect our FABs from excursions from supplier caused incidents which adversely affect normal production flow in our manufacturing line. You will also drive for implementation of best practices and continuous improvement across all of your assigned suppliers.
Your Job
- Drive discussions and improvements with suppliers to overcome issues/incidents as quickly as possible
- Interface and communicate with all stakeholders from technicians through upper management in and out of our company
- Drive and assist suppliers with formal structured problem solving (8D analysis) for all incidents and excursions.
- Perform external audits in a lead or support role.
- Rate supplier performance semiannually
- Work with internal module engineering groups to bound and diagnose issues that may be supplier induced and drive toward zero excursion / zero defects.
- Work with other GF FAB supplier quality engineers on cross-site materials specification harmonization
- Execute and support new supplier and commodity qualifications for new processes or cost reduction.
- Drive and execute any supplier related changes as per GF specifications.
- Analysis of data coming from supplier on regular basis to establish its specification and control limits (in agreement with Supplier)
- Provide necessary input to our supplier management/procurement team regarding issues with potential suppliers, including formal risk assessments to aid in strategic decisions.
- May involve work on first or second shift (negotiable)
Required Qualifications
Education: Masters or PhD. in engineering/science/technical area including materials science, chemistry, etc, having experienced an extensive chemistry curriculumYears of Experience: 3-5 years minimum experience in a semiconductor manufacturing environment and/or 5 years minimum experience working in a quality engineering roleAbility and willingness to assist other local and global lead SQE’s with their responsibilities when necessaryAbility to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and react to shifting prioritiesTravel: Minimal (<10%) although occasional external supplier audits may be necessary
Fluency in English Language – written & verbalPhysical Capacity Demands: Ability to work in mostly an office environment in front of a computer for long periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
- Sound understanding of SPC (statistical process control) and able to use in evaluation of supplier behavior and specification evaluation
- Ability to drive FMEA development from suppliers.
- Ability to work independently with minimal daily direction
- Certified IATF6949 Lead Auditor
- ISO9001-2015 Internal Auditor
- Six Sigma Greenbelt certification
- Semiconductor process experience across multiple commodities, with specific emphasis on chemicals.
- Experience in supplier quality engineering
