Structural Engineer - Industrial

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 1. Structural Design and Analysis: • Lead the structural design of industrial buildings, including foundations, frames, roofs, and structural systems for factories, warehouses, and large-scale industrial facilities. • Perform structural analysis using advanced software tools (e.g., STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAP2000) to ensure that designs are safe, efficient, and cost-effective. • Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and calculations for projects. • Review and approve design plans, ensuring they comply with local building codes and regulations, as well as international standards where applicable. • Integrate sustainability into design practices by considering materials, energy efficiency, and minimizing environmental impact. 2. Project Management: • Oversee the structural aspects of industrial projects from initial design to final construction. • Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure smooth coordination of all structural elements with architectural, electrical, and mechanical systems. • Monitor project progress, ensuring structural design timelines, quality standards, and budget constraints are adhered to. • Manage the preparation and review of detailed design reports and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client specifications. 3. Site Supervision and Quality Control: • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure that the structural work is carried out according to the approved plans and specifications. • Troubleshoot and resolve any structural issues that arise during construction, offering effective solutions. • Ensure that all materials used on site meet the required quality standards and specifications. • Collaborate with the construction team to implement safety measures and best practices on-site, ensuring structural safety and compliance with safety regulations. 4. Team Leadership and Collaboration: • Lead and mentor a team of junior and mid-level structural engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development. • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers, to ensure smooth integration of structural designs with other systems. • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities, providing progress updates and addressing any concerns regarding structural issues. Regulatory Compliance and Permitting: • Ensure that all designs comply with relevant local codes and international standards (if applicable), including seismic, wind, and load-bearing requirements. • Handle the permitting process for structural design approvals, ensuring that all necessary documentation is submitted in a timely manner. 6. Cost Estimation and Budget Management: • Work closely with the project manager and cost estimator to develop accurate cost estimates for structural elements of the project. Ensure that the structural design stays within budget, identifying potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety. Skills: • Expertise in structural design software. • In-depth knowledge of reinforced concrete, steel, and composite structures used in industrial projects. • Strong knowledge of relevant local building codes, standards, and international structural design practices. • Familiarity with the latest trends in sustainability and green building design for industrial facilities.
