Job Description for Structural Design Coordinator

Primary Role:

  • Coordinate the structural design activities by acting as the liaison between design consultants, architects, MEP teams, project managers, and site execution teams.
  • Ensure smooth integration of structural design with architectural and other engineering disciplines through effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Facilitate design approvals, track revisions, and manage requests for information (RFIs) with clients and consultants.

Coordination Responsibilities (70%):

  • Lead coordination meetings and ensure alignment among multi-disciplinary teams on project requirements and timelines.
  • Resolve technical conflicts related to structural design and site execution ensuring design intent is maintained.
  • Support the project team by addressing design-related queries during pre-construction and construction phases.
  • Manage stakeholder communication, including concessionaire, PMC (Project Management Consultant), and client interfaces.

Design & Review Responsibilities (30%):

  • Review, interpret, and validate structural drawings, specifications, and calculations for compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Conduct design checks and coordinate design changes to ensure constructability and adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers to resolve structural design challenges and support technical problem-solving.
  • Use structural design software tools such as STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAFE, and AutoCAD for validation and minor design iterations.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng) or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles, construction methodologies, and relevant safety standards.
  • Proficiency with structural design software and familiarity with design codes and regulations.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership qualities to facilitate technical resolutions and team collaboration.
