Staff Nurse - ICU

As a Critical Care Nurse specializing in geriatric patients in the ICU, your role involves monitoring and assessing elderly patients, ensuring continuous surveillance of vital signs, neurological status, and overall patient health. You will administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians, adhering to protocols specific to geriatric patients. Additionally, you will be responsible for performing advanced nursing procedures like mechanical ventilation management, hemodynamic monitoring, and cardiac monitoring when necessary. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop comprehensive care plans for geriatric ICU patients, aligning with patient and family preferences. - Provide emotional support and education to elderly patients and their families regarding ICU procedures, treatments, and recovery expectations. - Document all patient care activities accurately and comprehensively in electronic medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with hospital policies. - Participate in patient rounds, case conferences, and care coordination meetings to optimize patient outcomes and continuity of care. - Adhere to infection control protocols, maintaining a sterile and safe environment within the ICU for patients, staff, and visitors. - Respond promptly to emergency situations within the ICU, demonstrating proficiency in critical care nursing interventions and procedures. - Engage in continuous professional development through education, training, and participation in quality improvement initiatives specific to geriatric ICU care. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted. - Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or Gerontological Nursing (RN-BC) preferred.
