As a Sr for Database operations:
Oracle DBA typically has a wide range of technical responsibilities revolving around managing and optimizing Oracle database 11g ,12c, 19c to 23ai in Exadata, On-premises and in cloud. Here are some typical roles and responsibilities:
- Database Design and Architecture: Collaborate with architects, application developers, and stakeholders to design and implement scalable, high-performance database solutions that meet business requirements and align with organizational goals.
- Database Administration: Manage all aspects of the Oracle database along working with application teams, including fresh installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, backup, recovery, and maintenance.
- Develop DB build process on EC2,On-Premises, RDS platforms using pipelines.
- DB migration using DB replication tools (Golden Gate, DMS)
- Should be excellent in performance tuning to ensure the all the databases in the DB estate operates efficiently. Should be responsible to implement performance tuning measures such as index optimization, SQL tuning, optimize databases to enhance overall application performance.
- Database/application Monitoring database: Should be able to provide/implement monitoring solutions, using tools like OEM, Datadog. Should be able to write reports using OEM BI publisher
- Capacity Planning: Forecasting database growth and resource utilization to ensure that sufficient resources (storage, CPU, memory) are available to support current and future database workloads.
- Database Security: Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect sensitive data stored in databases, including user authentication, access control, and encryption.
- Backup and Recovery: Developing and maintaining backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime in the event of hardware failures, data corruption, or other disasters.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Designing and implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions. Should be expert in managing RAC and Dataguard.
- Patch Management and Upgrades: Expert in in Applying patches, fixes, and upgrades to address security vulnerabilities, bugs, and performance enhancements.
- Database Monitoring and Alerting: Setting up monitoring tools and alerts to proactively identify and resolve database/application issues preventing service disruptions.
- Compliance and Governance: Ensuring that databases comply with relevant industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and internal governance policies regarding data privacy, security, and auditability. Should be good in using OEM generate reports that required for management.
- Troubleshooting and Incident Response: Investigating and resolving database/application -related incidents and service outages in a timely manner, collaborating with other IT teams (e.g., application support, network, system administration) as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Staying current with emerging technologies, industry trends, adapt best practices database administration and recommend application teams that they align with database standards. Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements and automation to streamline database management tasks.
Technology Skills:
- Expertise in managing multiple oracle 11g,12c, & 19c databases on medium to large systems.
- Expertise in managing databases in Exadata. Expertise in ASM management is must
- TDE, SSL, TLS and other DB securities
- Expertise in troubleshooting, pro-active monitoring, backup, restore/recovery, and performance tuning.
- Good working knowledge in AWS cloud
- Exposure to Automation using CICD tools (Jenkins,Ansible, Terraform/python), DevOps skillset
- Very good knowledge of Linux/AIX/Windows and its related commands and shell scripting.
- Expertise in RMAN/OEM.
- Expertise in replication tool Golden Gate config & administration
- Expertise in High availability features Oracle dataguard, RAC.
- Good working knowledge of other RDBMS (PostgreSQL preferred) & NoSQL
- Good analytical skills and team player.
- 24X7 on-call support on rotational basis.

Qualifications:
- Graduation/Post Graduation.
- Minimum 8-10 years of technology experience in Level 1&2 support.
