Sr. Design Engineer/Assistant Manager - Rotating Machines (Mechanical)

Job Description

Key Job Elements: Responsible for Design & Development of Electrical rotating machine components Analyze and design equipment application on Locomotives Point Contact for Alternator design. Perform design analysis Assists in developing engineering designs Assists in implementing engineering changes Initiates documentation to provide engineering authority and to maintain math data Participates in solution of engineering related product problems (Root cause) Provides technical direction to support personnel Works with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods improvement, product improvements, and to support build programs Executes product plans with supervisor guidance Review mechanical components design and approve drawings Releases simple parts for production Communicates information to and from internal and external customer organizations Coordinates and consults with department outside engineering such as manufacturing Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products Regular contact with others outside the work group Travel as required Qualifications: Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering Training in college level theoretical and applied mechanics, vibrations Skills : Ability to read and understand complex system engineering drawings. Knowledge of computer engineering software and training in computer applications High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design Ability to identify and integrate locomotive requirements to Alternator structure. Knowledge of locomotive structures manufacturing and assembly process Good oral and written communication skills High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others Understanding of design and manufacturing processes Ability to work independently and with others Must have hands on experience in any of the CAD tool UG-NX / Creo / Catia Must have hands on experience in any PLM tools Teamcenter /any other. Preferred: Knowledge of Diesel – Electric Locomotive Systems is preferred. Understanding of engineering processes and procedures.
