Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY The role involves managing and supporting SQL Server databases, assisting Senior SQL Database Administrators with routine tasks. Key responsibilities include ensuring effective backup policies, monitoring system performance, applying system patches, managing application patch execution with rollback strategies, and optimizing T-SQL queries. Additionally, the role requires performance monitoring of the slowest queries and providing regular reports to the development team. EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILL SETS User Support: 1. Respond to all ServiceNow (SNOW) catalog requests received during the shift. 2. Monitor and respond to Slack channels at regular intervals, specifically: 3. #help-dba: Respond to posts where the specific DBA team is tagged. 4. Tag the appropriate DBA team on posts as needed. 5. Scan and respond to other channels where the team is tagged Operational Support: 1. Respond to all PagerDuty incidents received during the shift. 2. Follow established playbooks for issue resolution. 3. Perform basic troubleshooting for issues not covered by playbooks and escalate to higher-level engineers as needed. 4. Routinely monitor all operational dashboards and reports. 5. Conduct proactive outreach to users and engineers. 6. Provide handoff to onshore teams with related issues, work completed, and pending requests. Advanced Troubleshooting and Support: 1. Perform advanced troubleshooting for complex issues. 2. Conduct performance tuning to optimize system performance. 3. Resolve connectivity issues and system/configuration errors. 4. Effectively diagnose and resolve issues related to systems and technologies peripheral to the database infrastructure stack, including: Networking, Virtualization, Storage, Kerberos, Active Directory. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Proven experience in a technical support role with a strong track record of resolving technical issues. In-depth knowledge of database technologies and infrastructure. Strong understanding of networking, virtualization, storage, Kerberos, and Active Directory. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with monitoring tools and incident management systems (e.g., ServiceNow, PagerDuty). Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate). Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure). Familiarity with scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python). Location: Hyderabad
