Job Description

The Speech Therapy team partners with neurodivergent children, including those with Autism, Global Developmental Differences, Language-based communication differences, and speech variations such as articulation and stuttering. Therapy is grounded in a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach, centering child-led practices that honour each child’s unique communication style and support the development of meaningful connections. This includes the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems where appropriate. At Sethu, we prioritise a Family-Centered Care framework, recognising caregivers as collaborative partners in the goal setting and support process. Together, we co-develop goals that are respectful, empowering, and aligned with each child’s strengths, needs, and values. The role requires... Collaborating with children and their families to carry out holistic speech and language assessments and co-creating individualized support plans in alignment with Sethu’s SOPs. Understanding the child’s communication profile and the family’s priorities through Sethu’s Family-Centered Care approach, with a focus on building on existing strengths. Designing and implementing affirming, strengths-based intervention plans that are responsive to the child’s unique needs, preferences, and goals. Providing coaching and collaborative training to parents, caregivers, educators, and other professionals to promote consistent and empowering support across environments. Ensuring timely and accurate documentation of clinical notes within the EHR system. Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology. Clinical experience or exposure to supporting neurodivergent individuals and those with diverse communication. For example, individuals with Autism, Developmental Language Differences, cleft lip and palate, hearing differences, speech fluency variations (such as stuttering), and articulation differences — is preferred. Familiarity with administering comprehensive assessment tools to understand and support a wide range of communication styles and needs. Experience in collaboratively developing communication support plans, setting functional and meaningful goals, and maintaining accurate documentation and reporting. Prior professional experience in similar settings is preferred. Proficiency in English, Hindi, and Konkani is preferred. A commitment to working with Sethu for a minimum of two years. Essential Skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and engage respectfully and empathetically with children and their families as equal partners in care. Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with openness to learning and using Electronic Health Records following training. A commitment to professionalism through reliability, ethical practice, and a growth mindset, along with alignment to Sethu’s values and policies that prioritise inclusion, respect, and continuous learning.
