Introduction
IBM Z Ecosystem is looking for a Solution Architect who is skilled in IBM Mainframe technology and has experience in creating Hybrid cloud, Data and AI solutions involving IBM z Systems and applications.As a Solution Architect supporting our Global System Integrator (GSI) Partners, you will focus on driving the adoption of AI /Generative AI technologies and Generative AI assisted Products and offerings by our GSI Partners in their efforts to help their clients modernize the Mainframe applications and Operations. The goal is to help the clients achieve maximum business value for their investments on IBM Z platform by enabling the application developers, system programmers and operations team to leverage the latest software and hardware advancements and capabilities on IBM Z which helps them to be more productivity and efficient while innovating to solve business problems using technology.
Your Role And Responsibilities
Ideal candidate for this position should have experience with IBM Z Systems, Hybrid Cloud integration, Artificial Intelligence /Machine Learning (AI/ML) and Generative AI technologies.With the availability of our latest Mainframe system IBM z17 with Telum II Processor and Spyre Accelerator Card, you will influence our clients to understand and appreciate the business value of bringing generative AI capabilities on to the Mainframe platform.You will work closely with our GSI Partners and their clients to help them
- Develop, deploy, and manage AI workloads and machine learning models directly on z/OS using frameworks optimized for the platform.
- Optimize application performance to fully leverage the on-chip AI acceleration provided by the Telum II processor and the Spyre architecture, where applicable
- Architect and implement solutions for high-speed data transfer and real-time AI inference to minimize latency and improve transactional integrity on the Z platform.
- Collaborate with data science teams to integrate, test, and tune AI models for efficient execution in the mainframe environment.
- Architect, Design and implement Gen AI-assisted products or Agents (like tools integrated with IBM watsonx Assistant for Z or similar) to bring in efficiency and productivity in operations.
- Architect processes where AIOps agents handle routine operational decisions, freeing up experienced staff for complex problem-solving and strategic initiatives.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise
- 10+ years of experience in working with integration technologies.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of working with IBM z/OS Systems with reasonable understanding of various subsystems on IBM Mainframe.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in Python, AI/ML and Generative AI.
- Good knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift, Cloud and container technologies. Knowledge of IBM Cloud Paks is a plus.
- Experience in developing enterprise Applications to run on Mainframes and/or experience in Managing Mainframe Operations will be valuable.
- Prior experience of working with or supporting System Integrators /Service Partners will be a huge advantage
Typical activities performed by our Z Solution Architects team with our GSI Partners include (but not limited to):
- Co-create of solutions /assets/accelerators with GSI partners in different areas using modern technologies on the Mainframe
- Conduct PoC/PoT or developing Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) to demonstrate technical and/or business value with the latest offerings and capabilities on IBM Mainframe through/with GSIs to influence their clients.
- Provide education/enablement to GSIs & their Mainframe Practitioners on the new capabilities/offerings from IBM Z.
- Help build /nurture IBM Z (Mainframe) Center of Excellence or Practice within GSIs
- Drive Skills credentials within the GSI Practitioner community through various Skills initiatives/programs/events
- Solicit feedback on our products & technologies from GSIs and their clients to feed those back into our Product Management /Development.
Preferred Technical And Professional Experience
- Hands on skills on Software Installation / Maintenance on IBM Z , and System Administration would be a plus.
- Knowledge /experience with IBM watsonx platform and offerings
