Software Engineer - Java Spring Boot

As a part of Velsera, you will be contributing to the mission of accelerating the discovery, development, and delivery of life-changing insights in the field of medicine. Velsera, formed in 2023, is a collaboration between Seven Bridges and Pierian, providing software and professional services in various domains including AI-powered data harmonization, IVD development, and clinical NGS interpretation. Your role at Velsera will involve technical proficiency and execution, focusing on developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality, scalable, and secure applications. You will be expected to have knowledge of AWS services for building cloud-native applications, write clean and well-documented code, create comprehensive tests, troubleshoot and optimize existing code for performance. Security, compliance, and best practices will be key aspects of your responsibilities. You are required to follow secure coding practices, adhere to data privacy regulations, and maintain accurate system documentation. Taking end-to-end ownership of features, having a customer-centric mindset, and participating in production support activities are also integral parts of your role. Adhering to agile development practices, you will actively participate in planning sessions, work in short iterations, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams. Effective communication and collaboration using tools like Microsoft Teams, Jira, and Confluence will be crucial, especially when coordinating with global and cross-functional teams across multiple time zones. To be successful in this role, you are expected to bring 3+ years of professional software development experience, strong backend development skills with Java and Spring Boot, experience in RESTful API design and microservices architecture, proficiency in JavaScript (React is a plus), and familiarity with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and AWS services. Experience with Node.js in backend development will be a bonus.
