Primary Responsibilities: Performing all phases of software engineering including requirements analysis, application design, and code development & testing Design, develop and test reusable frameworks, libraries and Java components Be innovative in solution design and development to meet the needs of the business Address the performance issues and design the solutions to meet low latency needs Reviewing code and providing feedback relative to best practices, improving performance etc. Troubleshooting production support issues post-deployment and come up with solutions as required Test software development methodology in an agile environment Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms Provide recommendations for continuous improvement Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices Support backend development for Claims Highway and CCAM systems Design and implement RESTful APIs using Java/JEE and Spring Boot Work with MySQL, DB2, Postgres, and other RDBMS technologies Utilize and develop CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions, JPAC, XL Deploy, and DevOps/Cloud technologies Develop cloud-based solutions and applications Design, deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure Create and maintain documentation for cloud solutions and infrastructure Monitor and troubleshoot issues with cloud infrastructure Ensure security and compliance of cloud infrastructure Stay up-to-date with new technologies and trends in cloud computing Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so Required Qualifications: Relevant Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field 1+ years of experience in Java development Experience with Java/J2EE Development/Spring Framework/Spring Boot/Spring Batch Knowledge of cloud computing systems like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Familiarity with the basics of cloud architecture Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle in a distributed environment Some understanding with automation technologies and infrastructure as code (IAC) Some understanding of scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash Some exposure to cloud computing or related field Demonstrate proficiency in at least two of the following: Cloud - Azure, Google, AWS Application Build and Deployment using Jenkins, Gradle / MAVEN Microservices - RESTful API, GraphQL Database - DB2, MySQL, Oracle, Postgres Linux/Unix Proven good collaboration and communication skills Proven ability to function both individually and as a team At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
