Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Senior Vibration Diagnostics Engineer with 4 to 5 years of experience to lead condition monitoring and vibration diagnostics for wind turbines across our fleet in Chennai. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and expertise in interpreting vibration spectra, identifying fault frequencies, and diagnosing complex mechanical issues.
Roles and Responsibility
  • Lead vibration diagnostics and condition monitoring activities for wind turbine drivetrains and rotating components.
  • Analyze complex vibration signals using advanced techniques such as FFT, envelope analysis, order tracking, cepstrum, and time waveform analysis.
  • Identify early-stage mechanical faults, assess criticality, and recommend appropriate corrective or preventive actions.
  • Review, validate, and optimize CMS alarm thresholds and diagnostic logic.
  • Coordinate root cause analysis (RCA) for vibration-related failures and propose design or operational improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive vibration fault library and failure mode database for fleet-wide use.
  • Support data-driven decision-making by integrating vibration diagnostics with SCADA and operational data.
  • Lead periodic fleet health review meetings and prepare technical reports for management and customers.
  • Provide technical training, mentoring, and guidance to junior diagnostics engineers and site teams.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams to improve CMS hardware reliability and diagnostic accuracy.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 4 to 5 years of experience in vibration diagnostics, condition monitoring, or predictive maintenance of rotating machinery, preferably in wind turbines.
  • Proven expertise in interpreting vibration spectra, identifying fault frequencies, and diagnosing complex mechanical issues.
  • Hands-on experience with vibration monitoring platforms such as B&K Vibro, SKF, Acoem, or similar.
  • In-depth understanding of drivetrain dynamics, bearing failure mechanisms, and gearbox fault modes.
  • Proficiency in data visualization and diagnostic tools (CMS software, MATLAB, Python, or similar analytical platforms).
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 10816 / ISO 20816 vibration standards and reliability engineering principles.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Certified Vibration Analyst Category III (ISO 18436-2) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience leading diagnostic teams or reliability improvement programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of additional condition monitoring techniques (oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound) is a plus.
  • Exposure to predictive maintenance strategies using AI/ML-based monitoring tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with PLM or CMMS systems (Teamcenter, SAP PM) is a plus.
The position may require periodic travel to wind farm sites for field data validation, troubleshooting support, or training activities.
