Role Overview

Alation Data Catalog Expert

metadata management, SQL, data governance

Key Responsibilities

Lead the implementation, configuration, and administration of
Alation Data Catalog
Manage metadata ingestion and curation from databases, BI tools, cloud warehouses, and data lakes
Build and maintain business glossaries, taxonomies, and governance policies
Configure roles, permissions, and security policies (SSO, LDAP, Entra ID, etc.)
Establish and maintain data lineage and impact analysis
Collaborate with data stewards, analysts, engineers, and governance teams
Drive user adoption through training and enablement programs
Leverage APIs, Python/REST scripting, and automation for integrations
Monitor platform performance, usage, and adoption metrics
Stay updated with Alation’s latest features, including AI-driven and agentic capabilities
