WHAT'S THE MISSION FOR THIS ROLE

As a key technical custodian, the successful candidate will ensure the performance, security, scalability, and availability of SAP and non-SAP enterprise applications. This hands-on role requires deep expertise in SAP Basis, Oracle Database Administration, Linux Systems, and VMware virtualization, with a strong focus on upgrades and migrations. You'll collaborate with global IT teams, application owners, and infrastructure specialists to design, implement, and evolve enterprise systems that power Pentland's diverse brand portfolio.

WHAT DOES THIS ROLE DO

Technology

• Designed, implemented, and supported enterprise applications including SAP ECC, BI, BO, PO, Solution Manager, GRC, WMS, WFM, DMS, ADP Hr.Net, Gateway, and Fiori.
• Performed SAP Basis administration across ABAP, Java, and dual stack systems: installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Managed Oracle database environments (12c/19c): installation, patching, upgrades, RMAN based backup/recovery, performance tuning, and user management.
• Administered Linux systems (Oracle Linux/Red Hat): kernel tuning, patching, scripting automation, and resource monitoring.
• Oversaw VMware virtualized environments: VM provisioning, snapshot management, capacity planning, and host troubleshooting.
• Designed and executed Disaster Recovery (DR) and High Availability (HA) solutions.

Solution & Project Delivery

• Managed Transport Management System (CTS+), ChaRM, and deployment procedures for SAP landscapes.
• Performed system copies/refreshes and developed client management strategies.
• Coordinated application upgrades and infrastructure migrations with minimal downtime.
• Supported job scheduling and batch automation using tools like Redwood.
• Led small to medium sized technical projects independently, ensuring timely and quality delivery.

Support & Service

• Ensured compliance with audit and security standards, including GRC controls and ITGC requirements.
• Provided ongoing support for enterprise applications and infrastructure components.
• Monitored and tuned SQL performance for optimal database operations.
• Delivered proactive troubleshooting and performance optimization across SAP, Oracle, Linux, and VMware platforms.
• Maintained technical documentation and contributed to process standardization and knowledge sharing.

• Collaborated cross functionally with application, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure seamless operations.

WHAT DO I BRING TO THE ROLE

To stand out in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

• 710 years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis Administration.
• Proven expertise in Oracle Database Administration (12c/19c) installation, patching, performance tuning, and recovery.
• Strong experience in Linux system administration (Oracle Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux) including OS patching and upgrades.
• Practical experience with VMware administration, virtual infrastructure monitoring, and optimization.
• Exposure to SAP HANA, SAP upgrades (EHP, S/4 readiness), and SAP Kernel/Support Package upgrades preferred.
• Experience in Backup and Recovery strategies (RMAN, BRTools, Veeam or equivalent).
• Working knowledge of Networking, Storage, and Security configurations in an enterprise landscape.
• Familiarity with Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) for SAP workloads (added advantage).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and documentation skills for global coordination.
