Senior Resident - Gynaecology (MS / DNB)

Job Description

The Senior Resident in Gynaecology is responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients under the supervision of senior consultants. This role involves both obstetric and gynaecological duties, managing patients in outpatient, inpatient, labour room, and operation theatre settings. Key Responsibilities: Provide patient care in OPD, IPD, labour room, and OT as per hospital protocols. Participate in conducting normal and complicated deliveries. Assist and independently perform gynaecological surgeries as per competency level. Monitor antenatal, intranatal, and postnatal patients. Participate in daily ward rounds, case discussions, and departmental academic activities. Maintain complete and accurate medical records of patients. Ensure adherence to infection control and patient safety guidelines. Assist in emergency procedures and be on-call as per rotation schedule. Guide and support interns and junior residents as needed. Participate in audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives in the department. Key Skills and Competencies: Clinical Skills: Proficiency in obstetric care (antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care). Ability to manage gynaecological emergencies. Skills in common procedures like D&C, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, MTP, IUCD insertion, etc. Knowledge of fetal monitoring techniques and interpretation. Basic ultrasound skills (if available). Soft Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Team player with ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment. Empathy and sensitivity toward patients. Ability to work under pressure and manage critical situations. Technical/Professional Skills: Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Basic computer skills (MS Office, email communication). Updated with current clinical guidelines and best practices.
