About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Developer who can design, build, and optimise scalable backend systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable features and ensure best practices across the development lifecycle. This role requires strong ownership, architectural thinking, and the ability to mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend services using Python and modern frameworks.
• Architect, implement, and optimise APIs (REST/gRPC/WebSockets) for high performance.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, design schemas, optimise queries, and ensure data integrity.
• Integrate external systems, third-party APIs, and internal microservices.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following industry standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring reliability and uptime.
• Collaborate with DevOps to support CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud deployments.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and enforce engineering best practices.
• Work closely with product managers and architects to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to scaling, performance tuning, and system design improvements.

Required Skills and Experience

• 56 years of hands-on Python development experience in production environments.
• Strong expertise with Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Proficiency with SQL databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and experience with NoSQL (MongoDB/Redis) is a plus.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Familiarity with messaging/queue systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS).
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience with asynchronous programming.
• Experience writing and maintaining unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Proficient understanding of Git, branching strategies, and version control best practices.
• Ability to design scalable architectures, identify bottlenecks, and optimise performance.
• Strong communication skills and experience working in agile environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with task schedulers like Celery, RQ, or similar.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with API Gateway concepts and authentication/authorisation techniques.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• Exposure to infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus.
