Job Description

Senior Manager- Indirect Tax JOB DESCRIPTION A) Handling Taxation Matters: - Oversee all indirect taxation matters for the organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. - Assume responsibility for the tax accounting process, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of reported figures. B) Litigation Management: - Handle litigation matters related to indirect taxes. - Coordinate with consultants and advocates for appeal preparation and presentation at various judicial authorities. - Respond timely to notices/orders from tax authorities. C) Team and Consultant Management: - Lead consultations with external consultants, tax agencies, and legal advisors to ensure best practices in all tax-related matters. D) Tax Payments: - Calculate and ensure timely payment related to Indirect Tax E) GST Compliance: - Prepare and file GST returns as required, ensuring timely compliance. - Assume responsibility of GST compliances including filing of returns, tax computations, tax payments, credits, registrations, amendments, etc - Review of contracts and bid documents from GST perspective F) Audit Support: - Lead audit activity for IDT during statutory, internal, and tax audits, ensuring smooth participation. G) Month-End Compliance: - Ensure accurate and complete month-end tasks related to IDT compliance in financial books. H) Team Management - Guide & lead IDT team to ensure efficient process with adequate backup & support I) Business Support - Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide tax advice and support to business initiatives, tax advocacy and projects. - Knowledge Sharing and dissemination of latest developments in Goods and Service tax to the senior management Strategic Build a strong and efficient team to provide robust business support for current operations and future scale up. Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders - Finance Leadership, Business stakeholders, transformation office, Auditors etc. Be the 'conscience keeper' of the company, setting high ethical and integrity practices and standards and ensuring risk management within the risk management framework. Drive the implementation and embedding of the process improvements and efficiencies within the organization. Challenge business stakeholders when needed Take automation initiatives to ensure excellent compliance & control Operational Overseeing the establishment and execution of operational processes Ensure the hygiene of accounts, clean balance sheet on an ongoing basis, and safeguard against misappropriation of company assets Ensure effective delivery of agreed KPIs, SLAs and support effective resolution of issues Maintain strong professional relationship with statutory & internal auditors and proactively partner on accounts closing, reporting and audit matters Leadership and Development Lead the IDT Team Full transparency across the end-to-end value chain with performance metrics in place to highlight improvement areas and put metrics in place for continuous improvement. Ensuring a good service and performance culture focused on a partnership and customer centric approach. Ability to maintain good relations with external parties/outsourced parties to ensure smooth and well-integrated functioning of IDT Process Ensure effective people management and development of the team, including staffing & selection of senior management, building a strong team culture. Experience & Educational Background Educational Background: Qualified Chartered Accountant Experience: 8+ years of experience of managing Indirect Tax in similar industry or Big 4/Big 6 3+ years managerial experience of handling teams & leading the entire process Skills & Competencies: Qualified in Finance & Accounting, signifying in depth knowledge of the finance function. Proven track record of attracting people and building new teams with high employee engagement. Ability to operate at a strategic level. Sound knowledge of leading digital finance technologies Experience from similar industry Inter-personal skills and attributes required to meet position objectives: Excellent communication and decision-making skills Ability to effectively coach and develop team members. Highly articulate, with the ability to challenge current state and deliver compelling, well-structured arguments for change. Fluency in English (both written and oral) Understanding of native local language is preferred. Key Performance Indicators Successful IDT compliance with NIL errors Minimum exposure w.r.t. IDT litigation Team Management Excellent relationship with Consultants, Tax authorities, business teams Low employee attrition Escalations from customers (internal / external)
