Job Title: Senior Lead Engineer

Position Overview

The Senior Lead Engineer will lead structural analysis activities for metallic and composite aerospace structures, ensuring integrity, performance, and compliance with airworthiness standards. The role involves supporting design development, certification, and production phases while mentoring junior engineers and driving technical excellence in stress analysis methodologies.

Job Description:

  • Perform detailed structural analysis (static, fatigue, and damage tolerance) for primary and secondary aircraft structures using both classical hand calculations and Finite Element Methods (FEM).
  • Validate and optimize designs to meet strength, stiffness, and stability requirements.
  • Conduct FE model creation, validation, and correlation with test results using tools such as NASTRAN, PATRAN, HyperMesh, or Abaqus.
  • Prepare and review stress reports, certification documents, and structural substantiation dossiers in compliance with CS/FAR Part 25 or Part 23 standards.
  • Support design, manufacturing, and repair teams by providing structural justification and recommendations for non-conformances or design changes.
  • Review and approve load paths, material selection, joint details, and tolerances from a structural integrity standpoint.
  • Lead fatigue and damage tolerance (F&DT) assessments and participate in allowable derivation and test correlation.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior stress engineers and coordinate analysis activities across multiple projects.
  • Support design reviews, customer meetings, and certification authority discussions as a technical representative.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in analysis processes, automation, and documentation practices.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of aircraft structures, load paths, and failure modes (metallic and composite).
  • Proficiency in analysis tools: MSC Nastran, PATRAN, HyperMesh.
  • Familiarity with airworthiness standards (EASA CS/FAR 23/25, DO-160, MMPDS, or similar).
  • Expertise in hand calculations, classical methods, and finite element validation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional design/stress/manufacturing teams.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
  • Additional certification or training in Fatigue & Damage Tolerance, FEM/FEA, or Aerospace Structures is desirable.
