Job Responsibilities Seeking a proactive and strategic GM – Operations to lead the full spectrum of operations across steel distribution , Cut & Bend rebar processing , and retail logistics . The role includes ownership of vendor relationship management and capital machinery procurement , ensuring high uptime, operational efficiency, and future readiness of all processing units. Steel Distribution & Warehouse Management Oversee logistics, warehousing, inventory planning, and dispatch across regional hubs. Coordinate closely with Tata Steel on allocation planning, fulfilment targets, and supply chain alignment. Ensure accurate stock levels, FIFO compliance, and robust inbound/outbound tracking systems. Cut & Bend Division Oversight Manage operations of the precision TMT Cut & Bend facility, including CAD- based processing and dispatch to infrastructure projects. Ensure rebar accuracy, reduced scrap, and timely deliveries aligned with customer requirements. Maintain optimum machine utilization and enforce preventive maintenance schedules. Vendor Management & Procurement Build, negotiate, and manage long-term relationships with steel processing vendors, machine suppliers, maintenance contractors, and logistics service providers. Lead strategic sourcing and procurement for capital machinery, cutting & bending equipment, and plant infrastructure. Develop annual procurement plans and manage tendering, vendor audits, AMC contracts, and service SLAs. Strategic Operations & Compliance Define and track KPIs across divisions: delivery accuracy, TATs, tonnage processed, rework/rejection ratios, and cost-per-ton metrics. Implement lean operations and cost control strategies. Ensure compliance with Tata Steel’s service guidelines, EHS (environment, health, and safety) norms, and statutory regulations. Ensure Safety Compliance & Zero Machine downtime Desired Academic Qualifications B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering. MBA/PGDM in Operations or SCM is preferred. Desired Work Experience Minimum 10-15 years in steel operations with proven leadership in: Distribution or warehousing Rebar or metal processing (Cut & Bend or fabrication) Vendor development & machinery sourcing Special Mentions ERP & Inventory systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) Vendor negotiation & contract management Project execution for machinery procurement Team leadership and cross-functional coordination Budget: 24LPA to 30LPA Show more Show less
