Senior Fireman

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Fire Response & Emergency Management

• Lead the first-response team during fire, explosion, or emergency situations.
• Operate hydrant systems, fire pumps, foam monitors, breathing apparatus (BA), and rescue tools.
• Handle incidents involving flammable gases, pyrolysis oil, carbon black dust, and high-temperature reactors.
• Coordinate with the Fire Officer and plant emergency response team (ERT) during critical situations.
• Support evacuation procedures and ensure area isolation during emergencies.
  

B. Fire Prevention & Plant Inspection

• Conduct routine fire-safety inspections across high-risk zones: reactors, oil storage tanks, conveyors, feeding/condensing area, etc.
• Identify fire hazards and report non-conformities to the Fire Officer.
• Perform hot-work supervision and issue/monitor work permits (hot work, confined space, line breaking).
• Check and record the health of fire extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, hoses, detectors, and alarm systems.
  

C. Equipment Operation & Maintenance

• Conduct daily/weekly checks of fire pumps, hydrant network, fire extinguishers, foam systems, and fire water tanks.
• Maintain inspection logs, checklists, and equipment status reports.
• Ensure readiness of BA sets, gas detectors, rescue tools, and emergency lighting.
• Assist in preventive maintenance coordination with engineering teams.
  

D. Training & Team Leadership

• Guide junior firemen, operators, and helpers on firefighting techniques.
• Participate in fire drills, mock drills, and emergency response training.
• Provide toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions to plant staff.
  

E. Compliance & Documentation

• Maintain fire incident reports, inspection records, and statutory compliance documentation.
• Support internal audits and compliance with local fire regulations and standards.
• Maintain shift reporting and handover notes.
