Senior Engineer – Wooden Toys Department

Job Summary :-

The Senior Engineer – Wooden Toys Department will be responsible for overseeing the complete production and engineering processes for wooden toy manufacturing. This includes planning, process optimization, quality control, machinery maintenance, manpower management, and continuous improvement of production efficiency. The role requires strong technical knowledge of woodworking machinery, surface finishing, assembly operations, and adherence to international toy safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Execution

Develop and implement daily and monthly production schedules to meet targets.

Plan material flow, coordinate with procurement and store teams for raw material availability (wood, paint, fittings, packaging, etc.).

Supervise and manage production teams across cutting, sanding, assembly, and finishing sections.

Monitor machine utilization and ensure optimal operation of CNC routers, panel saws, sanders, lathes, and other woodworking machinery.

2. Process & Quality Control

Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with quality and safety standards (EN71, ASTM, BIS).

Conduct in-process inspections and coordinate with the QC team for defect analysis and corrective actions.

Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production and ensure operator training.

Implement process improvements to minimize rework and wastage.

3. Technical & Engineering Support

Review design drawings, technical specifications, and NPD requirements for new toys.

Collaborate with the design and development team for prototype creation and sample approval.

Identify and resolve mechanical and process-related issues promptly.

Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of all woodworking and finishing machines.

4. Manpower & Team Management

Supervise team of operators, technicians, and supervisors to ensure productivity and discipline.

Conduct training for workers on safety, process handling, and machinery operation.

Maintain coordination between production, maintenance, QC, and logistics departments.

5. Safety & Compliance

Enforce safety procedures and ensure a clean and hazard-free work environment.

Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with factory standards.

Maintain all documentation related to production, maintenance, and safety inspections.

6. Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization

Analyze production data and identify areas for improvement in efficiency and quality.

Optimize raw material usage and control operational costs.

Recommend upgrades or automation in machinery and tools to improve productivity.

Qualifications & Experience :-

Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Wood Technology Engineering.

Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of experience in wooden toy or wooden furniture manufacturing.

Technical Skills :-

Knowledge of woodworking machinery, CNC, and surface finishing.

Understanding of toy safety standards (EN71 / ASTM / IS).

Proficiency in AutoCAD / SolidWorks or similar software.

Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Soft Skills:- Leadership, planning, communication, and team coordination.
