Bajaj Electricals Ltd JOB ROLE Senior Engineer- Packaging LOCATION ABSQ Navi Mumbai BU/ DIVISION Research and Development Department JOB PURPOSE To lead packaging development for NPDs, addressing quality and cost improvement opportunities, and providing guidance on validation and supplier development. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the development of packaging for NPDs, ensuring quality improvements and value engineering projects are delivered on time. Design and develop robust packaging to address critical consumer quality issues within the distribution network. Provide technical guidance for packaging validation, supplier development, and the testing of alternative packaging materials. Benchmark packaging trends and best practices, implementing these in packaging designs to maintain a competitive edge. Lead documenting SOPs, packaging specifications, and test protocols to ensure compliance. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging Desirable: BE with Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging Work Experience 5-10 years of experience in packaging material design or related fields Proven expertise in Packaging material design & sustainable packaging Experience with DFSS methodologies and problem-solving tools is desirable CERTIFICATIONS Packaging Engineering certification Printing certification PREFERRED/ ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT Proficiency in RCA and problem-solving tools and techniques, statistical tools and techniques DFSS Green belt is desirable. INTERNAL / EXTERNAL INTERFACE Internal – Engineering Design team, PRC, DQC, Product Development team, Tooling Teams, Advanced Development teams, Commercials External – Marketing, SCM, Plants, distributor, retailer, End consumer FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES Technical skills: Packaging material knowledge for plastics, EPS, EPE, paper and paperboard includes duplex and kraft with thorough understanding of conversion process impacting overall packaging material design Good understanding of storage and handling guidelines and its challenges for safe transportation with periodic benchmarking efforts Good knowledge on the new technology and sustainable packaging materials for driving focused innovation Mathematical model-based packaging design Process skills : Proficiency in structured problem solving & decision-making tools such as six sigma & 8D tools, RCA tools for design & field failure investigation Strong understanding of IP process To lead packaging development for NPDs, addressing quality and cost improvement opportunities, and providing guidance on validation and supplier development
