As a Senior Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer at bp in Pune, India, you will be working with the Fleet Team within the Mobility & Convenience organization. This team plays a crucial role in supporting the technology behind the global fleet business, focusing on car & van, and truck segments across fossil fuel and electric vehicles. Your role involves developing innovative marketing strategies and consumer engagement solutions to support fleet managers in managing their vehicles efficiently, complying with regulations, and reducing the total cost of ownership. **Key Responsibilities:** - Collect and analyze large sets of data using machine learning algorithms, statistical models, and data processing techniques to predict future trends and provide actionable insights. - Create and optimize machine learning models, develop algorithms for autonomous decision-making, and work with large datasets to train models. - Collaborate with data analysts, software engineers, and domain experts to implement machine learning solutions that address specific business needs. - Ensure scalability and efficiency of machine learning systems, continuously improve model performance, and stay updated with the latest advancements in the field. **Qualification Required:** - MSc in a quantitative field. - Hands-on experience in designing, planning, prototyping, and maintaining data science products in complex environments. - Applied knowledge of data science tools and approaches across all data lifecycle stages. - Strong understanding of mathematical foundations of statistics and machine learning. - Development experience in object-oriented programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, C++). - Customer-centric approach, stakeholder management skills, and ability to lead through influence. - Continuous learning mindset. **Desired Qualifications:** - Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Spark) is a plus. - PhD in a quantitative field. - Knowledge of experimental design and analysis. - Advanced SQL knowledge. - No prior experience in the energy industry required.
