Company Overview: Ascent Outdoors, a prominent online retailer of outdoor gear in the U.S., is currently seeking a dedicated Senior Buyer to join our offshore team located in Remote Peaks, India. Our team operates within a collaborative and dynamic environment, focusing on making impactful, data-driven decisions that shape our daily operations. Position Overview: As a Senior Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in buying and optimizing inventory management processes, ensuring efficient turnover rates, identifying top-selling products, monitoring product aging, and assisting in optimizing cash flow. Effective collaboration with junior buyers and the sales team is essential to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory. Key Responsibilities: Buying and Inventory Management: Make informed buying decisions to maintain optimal inventory levels, overseeing inventory turnover rates, and identifying opportunities for improvement. Manage ASAP and Preseason orders, either via email or by submitting them on B2B websites. Maintain optimal stock levels for all products to meet customer demand while minimizing carrying costs. Pricing Strategy: Ensure that new and high-demand items are not discounted. Regularly review inventory aging reports to identify and address aging or obsolete inventory items, suggesting clearance strategies. Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to Assistant Buyers, fostering a high-performance team. Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular performance evaluations. Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement process improvements to streamline inventory management and reduce operational costs. Data Analysis: Generate reports on inventory turnover, stock levels, aging, and other relevant metrics to provide insights to the management team. Utilize data analysis to produce comprehensive reports on product performance and sales trends. Qualifications: Bachelor's or master's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred). 4+ years of experience in retail buying, with a proven track record in leadership roles. Proficiency in using inventory management software and data analysis tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Understanding of retail and e-commerce industry dynamics is a plus.
