Senior Backend Engineer

.As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable backend systems that support high-performance applications. You will work cross-functionally with frontend engineers, product teams, and analytics specialists to solve complex technical challenges and deliver robust solutions. This role emphasizes quality, automation, and performance, requiring proactive problem-solving and innovative thinking. You will mentor peers, contribute to technical decisions, and actively explore emerging technologies and AI-driven development tools. Accountabilities
- Design, implement, and maintain highly scalable backend endpoints and distributed web applications
- Collaborate with product, frontend, and analytics teams to gather requirements and create detailed design documents
- Lead full software development lifecycle: architecture, solution design, development, testing, and maintenance
- Mentor team members on best practices, sharing knowledge to improve team performance
- Identify performance improvements, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize backend systems
- Introduce new technologies and frameworks to improve engineering processes and application performance
- Actively participate in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of industry experience in backend development, including 3-4 years in senior roles
- Expertise in distributed web applications, backend architecture, and scalable system design
- Strong knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL), data modeling, and RESTful service design
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Ruby, Node.js, Python, or similar
- Familiarity with modern infrastructure and DevOps tools, including Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve code quality, development efficiency, and productivity
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaborative skills, with a proactive and ownership-driven mindset
- Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related fields, experience with Redis, Elasticsearch, microservices, and machine learning applications
