Senior API Tester

Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled API Tester to join our quality assurance team. The API Tester will be responsible for ensuring the functionality, reliability, and performance of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) used by our products. This role involves testing APIs to identify defects, troubleshoot issues, and verify that the APIs meet performance and security requirements. The ideal candidate should have experience in software testing with a strong understanding of APIs, testing frameworks, and automation tools. They will work closely with developers, product managers, and other QA team members to ensure a high-quality product. Key Responsibilities API Testing: Execute tests on RESTful, SOAP, to verify functionality, performance, and security. Hands on experience in using the tools like Postman, Mockoon etc. to perform the manual testing. Test Case Creation: Develop test cases and test scenarios based on API documentation and user stories. Test Automation: Implement automated test scripts using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or automation frameworks such as RestAssured, JMeter, or Selenium. Debugging and Issue Reporting: Investigate and identify defects in APIs, report issues, and work with developers to resolve them. Performance Testing: Conduct performance testing to assess the scalability and stability of APIs under load. Security Testing: Perform security testing to identify vulnerabilities or weaknesses in the API. Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, test results, and defect reports. Collaboration: Work closely with developers, product managers, and other QA team members to ensure that APIs meet quality standards. Regression Testing: Conduct regression tests to ensure that changes to APIs do not negatively affect existing functionality. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest API testing trends, tools, and best practices. Requirements Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Experience: Proven experience in API testing with at least [X] years of experience in software quality assurance.
